We have international collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA (1st Arthroplasty Conference 2008, 3rd Arthroplasty Conference 2010, 4th Arthroplasty Conference 2011); UK (review course 2009, review course 2010 Braddock visit). We also share consultation with colleagues at Cleveland clinic, Ohio, USA; San Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Canada  & Hospitals of the University of Leeds, UK.

The department staff members are pioneers in patient-specic cutting guides for total knee replacement (TKR); navigation for TKR in the Middle East, total hip arthroplasty by computer-assisted surgery in the Arab world, community arthroplasty register in the Arab world. Patient specific instruments (PSI) for total knee replacement:
The open platform technique

Patient specific instruments (PSI) for TKR is now used almost routinely in our center by Prof Mahmoud A Hafez. The technique used is called an open platform PSI, as it can be used for any TKR implants. The personal experience of Dr Hafez indicate that this PSI technique can make a revolution in the management of TKR in the Middle East. In addition
